United Nations Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime and the Protocols Thereto
This Convention and its accompanying Protocols form the cornerstone of international cooperation against transnational organized crime. Signatory states, including Nigeria, commit to the criminalization of offences such as human trafficking, migrant smuggling, and firearms trafficking. The Convention sets forth mechanisms for mutual legal assistance, extradition, and the protection of victims and witnesses. It is a critical legal instrument for cross-border enforcement agencies, international legal practitioners, and policymakers involved in combating organized crime and enhancing global justice cooperation.
